Because members of the military and their families are stationed worldwide and must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, Fisher House Foundation donates "comfort homes," built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful times - during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury. Supporting America's military in their time of need. They provide "a home away from home" that enables family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful time -- during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury.
 

Poker Gives was founded by poker industry professionals Mike Sexton, Linda Johnson, Jan Fisher, and Lisa Tenner as a way for the poker world to "Give Back" to worthwhile charity organizations. The goal is to raise funds through poker events and donate it to five mainstream charities that are near and dear to their hearts.

No Board Members or Founding Members will receive a salary in the expectation that a minimum of 95% of all funds raised will reach the charities. All efforts will be made to keep the administrative costs of maintaining the site to 5% or less. The charities Poker Gives supports are: Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Paralyzed Veteran's of America, Special Olympics, Sunflower Children and American Cancer Society.
 

Gold Star Wives of America is an organization of widows and widowers whose spouses died while on active duty in the military services or as the result of a military service connected cause. GSW was organized in 1945 by the war widows of World War II.  It is a Congressional chartered, non-profit organization incorporated in the State of New York. Eleanor Roosevelt signed the original GSW incorporation papers.

GSW has approximately 10,000 members. We have 8 regions and 53 chapters located in 26 states. Our National Convention is held once a year. Each Region has an annual Regional Conference to prepare for the National Convention. Most of our chapters meet monthly and for special events and outings.

The primary mission of GSW is to provide service, support and friendship to the widows and widowers of military personnel who died on active duty or as the result of a service connected cause.
