Teaching How to Play Winning Poker Part
2 George
Epstein
Poker Player Newspaper January 2006 In the first part of this series, we told you how the course came
to be and how it evolved; and why the classroom environment is ideal for
teaching the game of poker. About the course. In all, the course consisted of
seven sessions, each 1 and a half hours long. The first hour was spent on
lecture and class discussion. The last part of each session was devoted to
actually dealing and playing hands of hold'em. That gave the students hands-on
experience and an opportunity to ask questions in real time. We played only
with chips. No money was involved.

What's Luck Got To Do With It? Lee Garcia Poker Player Newspaper January 2006 That's what a young kid told me the other day, as he racked up a
4/8 Hold'em table. He couldn't miss a hand, and had killed 5 pots in a row just
before I left the table. Two days later, he was hanging around the poker room
trying to borrow the buy-in to a $35 tournament! I said no. He said he was a
good investment because I saw him win $600 that day. Since he brought it up, I
asked him what happened to the money. He related that he was in a game with
some crazy players that played everything and he couldn't protect his good
hands. He felt he was the victim of some bad luck.

The Making of an Online Poker Player Jim ‘Krazy Kanuck’ Worth All In Magazine January 2006 I was lucky enough during 2003's World Series to be invited to a barbecue thrown by one of the players the day before the $10,000 main event. My now good friend Annie Duke introduced me as KrazyKanuck—the
name I play under online—and as I was mingling, I was amazed at the lack of respect the majority of tournament pros had toward players of my ilk.

Read tells like the FBI Joe Navarro Bluff Magazine January 2006 As an FBI interrogator and world-authority on
‘non-verbal behavior’ (that’s tells to you), Joe Navarro has spent a lifetime
detecting deception in hardened criminal masterminds and international
terrorists. But when Bluff used our interrogation skills on him, we had him
crying like a baby within minutes. That last statement, of course, is a lie,
but you spotted that, right? Welcome to the circle of trust...

Some thoughts to ponder for poker success

Card Player Magazine July 2005 ANOTHER
POKER QUESTION I’VE BEEN ASKED TOO OFTEN
OVER THE YEARS: With the poker world’s current flood of new players, many of
them are asking about bluffing. Whether it’s hold’em or seven-card stud, my
advice at the low and medium limits is simple and specific — don’t! (Stop
shaking your head while I explain.)

Small Stakes Tournaments: Final Table Play Jeremiah Smith Poker Player Newspaper January 2006 I wasn't quite sure what to make of a final table
I was watching recently. There was one player absolutely running over the
table-with his mouth. He was one of those off-the-wall guys who kept talking,
talking, talking. Did he have bad poker etiquette?

Is Your Home Game Legal? Anthony Cabot Bluff Magazine January 2006 So, you are like millions of Americans who occasionally get
together for a poker game at one of the gang’s house. Typically, the night is
about bravado and beer, rather than serious poker play. Maybe you only play
quarter games. You can usually walk away with pocket money for the week. After
all, you know a little about the game. But, how much do you know about the law?
What if, on one fateful night, your friend’s neighbor, still smarting because
your friend’s barbeques last too late in the evening for his tastes, peers
through the window and spots the cards and chips on the table. He calls the man
in blue. What now?
