Since the dawn of the online poker age there has always been the question of which is better, online poker or live games in a casino? The answer is the same as most poker questions.... It depends. While the two generally have the same rules and structure, you are dealing with totally different games.

Comparing Online Poker to Live Poker

In the past learning poker was a time consuming, difficult, and generally expensive undertaking. The lowest games offered in a live, or brick and mortar (B&M) as it is commonly referred to, card room is usually $2-$4 fixed limit. These games have a high rake (what the house collects for dealing the games), and move along at a very slow speed, where as few as 20 hands per hour are commonly played. This makes it
hard to get a lot of experience, as it will take a long time to play the requisite number of hands to gain that experience, and it is likely to be very expensive.
