This book goes beyond the simple “What” of playing poker and provide the
“How” and “Why” necessary to become a profitable low stakes player. This book
not only covers the best plays, but also covers why some plays are
correct in some situations and incorrect in others. You will also see how to
bet and play these hands most profitably.
That's Poker, Folks: 101 PokerismsTM to Improve Your Game is not your typical strategy book. A “Pokerism” is the term I coined
to represent a poker quote or comment, often un-attributable, in the same manner
that a witticism is a witty comment. Many things in the modern lexicon have an
underpinning in gambling generally and the game of poker specifically.
Living on Jacks and Queens: Hold'em According to Maverick takes a different twist on teaching Hold'em strategy from other books. Similar to how That's Poker, Folks, it takes quotes from the "Maverick" television show of the 1950's and 1960's starring James Garner and Jack Kelly and provides one or two page chapters on the Texas Hold'em concept
covered.
Similar to Living on Jacks and Queens, A Gambers' Gameis not your typical strategy book. Insead of the "Maverick" television series, it uses Gene Barry's "Bat Masterson" series as the provider of quotes as a basis for the Texas Hold'em strategy lessons.
